Comprehensive Preventative Vehicle Maintenance in Sydney

At Merit Muffler Brake & Wheel, we provide preventative vehicle maintenance in Sydney to keep your vehicle looking and working optimally. Our preventive checks are simple, inexpensive and help extend the working lifespan of your vehicle. Routine maintenance visits avert unexpected costly failures and ensure safer operation while benefiting the environment.

Check your owner's manual that outlines the individual service schedules specific to your car. Remember that maintenance requirements differ from manufacturer to manufacturer.

  • Your vehicle owner's manual should tell how frequently you need to have oil filters changed, but a good rule is to get this done every 5,000 to 6,000 kilometres.

  • Keep up with all fluid checks, including power steering, brake, windshield washer solvent transmission/transaxle, and antifreeze. These fluids are essential to ensure your vehicle’s safety and performance.

  • Inspect the tires for inflation. Driving with under-inflated tires can bring down your fuel efficiency. To avoid this, check tires at least once a month, which is the least expensive preventive and safety maintenance you can do.

  • Tune-up your engine often to prevent losing fuel efficiency, which can be reduced by nearly 30% from a fouled spark plug or plugged/restricted fuel injector.

  • Lubricate the chassis frequently, and you can greatly prolong the life of the moving components that make up your vehicle's suspension system.

  • Inspect battery cables and posts for any signs of corrosion. Clean them as frequently as needed. Also, check battery fluid and fill it up if low, but this is not needed in case you have a maintenance-free battery.

  • Your vehicle’s lighting system needs frequent inspections. Check turn signals, headlights, taillights, and brakes.

  • Inspect windshield washer blades and note any tears, cracks, or windshield contact. Have your blades replaced at least once a year or more frequently if you hear streaking noises.

  • Check engine belts. Worn-out belts negatively impact the engine performance. Have them replaced if you see cracks or any missing sections/segments.

  • Remember to inspect the air filtration system routinely. Check the air filter for clogging or damage during every other oil change. This inspection routine will help keep your vehicle at its peak performance condition.
